Memorial Day 2008 Super-Meme (Thank You Mary?)

A Meme is an internet-based social game, designed to get people to know more about you. In the spirit of a chain letter, I have been notified by Mary McKnight - SEO Blogger and Blog Information Queen for RSS Pieces, that I have been meme'd (along with 3 of my friends:  Laurie Manny: Long Beach Real Estate, Ines Hegedus-Garcia: Miami Real Estate and Russell Shaw: Phoenix Real Estate)

I am now supposed to answer 8 questions and find 8 other people to answer the same questions. I am going to take this opportunity to give you a peek into the likes/dislikes and mind of me - Mariana Wagner of the Wagner iTeam, Colorado Springs Real Estate. No. None of these questions are real estate related, but in the name of fun ... Here we go!

P.S. I have included a barrage of links to help explain as much of this as possible ... so I hope you have enough time to fully enjoy this post!

1.       Who is Your Favorite Musical Artist?

My favorite musical artist changes about as often as the daily calendar on my desk. I often listen to the local classical music station when driving around town taking pictures of Colorado Springs. Genre's? I love the 80's and the "grunge-rock" of the 90's and pretty much anything with a good beat. (Sometimes my favorite musician is me ... when I am playing Guitar Hero III with my oldest son...) However, there ARE some specific artists that stand out:

And for your entertainment ... here is a band that I have loved for a long time ~ Red Hot Chili Peppers:

2. Who is Your Favorite Artist?

Again, I love all kinds of art ... but my favorite type of art is comic-book style. I love Jamie Hewlett, who designed Tank Girl and the art for the Gorillaz. Yes, it is kind of dark, but it is also brilliantly detailed.

In addition to Jamie Hewlett, I also love the art of Aaron Kraten. In fact, I bought an iPod skin (cover) with his art so I can see it every time I play music. He is an inspiration for skateboard art and tattoos among other things ...

3.       Who is Your Favorite Blogger?

My favorite blogger is Seth Godin. I read what he writes more often than anyone else. He is one of the main reasons I began to blog. He is one of the main reasons I am still blogging and he is one of the reasons I will continue to blog. He embodies all that is right about the way that "marketing" (anti-advertising) and "running your business" should be.

4.       If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?

I would meet Benjamin Franklin. I think that he was one of our most brilliant founding fathers. I am a die-hard American and believe that our country is so wonderful because of the foundation that was laid by men like Benjamin Franklin. That man had so many ideas in his head, I would just want to follow him around and listen to everything he said and read everything he wrote ... as he wrote it.

5.       What did You want to be when you grew up?

Me - Thinking about being the 1st woman president and an astronaut. Age 4.

I wanted to be the first US woman president AND an astronaut. I had these dreams from the time I was a really young little girl, all the way up to my Junior year in High School when I realized that I say what is on my mind too easily (poor use of mental filter) and, therefore would not do well in a political arena and I didn't like math or science enough to be an astronaut.

6.       What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?

Yeah. I don't know anything THAT interesting. So instead, here are 3 interesting facts that I dug up just for this post. I assume they are all validated facts, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Baskin Robbins once made ketchup ice cream. This was the only vegetable flavored ice cream produced.
  • The Beatles held the Top Five spots on the April 4th, 1964 Billboard singles chart. To date, they're the only band that has ever accomplished that.
  • The bloodhound is the only animal whose evidence is admissible in an American court.

7.       If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?

I really like where I am right now. So much is changing in the world and I feel lucky to be a part of all the historical milestones and achievements made in all areas of life: political, business, medical, social ...

I mean, think about it... We are in a presidential race where the top 3 contenders are a war veteran, a woman and a black man. Business is becoming more social and less sales-y, empowering the consumer more now than ever. There are more medical breakthroughs than I can even count. People are reaching out to help the downtrodden and poor both in our own back yards and across the world in ways we never would have imagined.

I am lucky to be a part of the history that we are making right now.

8.       What is the most interesting job you ever had?

That is a loaded question.

Do I talk about the time I worked for a drug store in Brooklyn, NYC that was run by the mafia? I felt like I was in a movie every time I clocked in. Do I mention the years I spent working in the special education field at the local High School? There was an unbelievable story to tell every time I came home. Do I talk about real estate and being a real estate agent in Colorado Springs? Goodness. There are SO many interesting things that happen every day in the business of real estate.

I don't have a "most interesting" job. Everything I have done carried/carries its own level of interesting.

If you have read this far ... thank you.

You worked at a mob store in Brooklyn?  lol...I grew up in a Scicilian neighborhood in Queens.

Do you know the difference between our government and the mafia?

I love the Baskin Robbins info. But in actuality a Tomato is a fruit not a vegetable. So Baskin was really making fruit icecream.
